DAVID AND
GOLIATH
Take WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, he
believes passionately in his cause, (governments particularly in the US) have
tried to stop his activities, which is all about getting the truth out there.
Without like minded people he wouldn't have the material to put out there
anyway, so clearly there are many who want to expose the truth.
It’s not easy speaking out, just like David and Goliath I’m
sure there must have been a nervous moment when David walked out there to send
his stone aimed at Goliath’s head. But he won and downed Goliath. But no-one
wants to see governments fail, maybe just change their attitudes and be more
honest.
Civil rights are one of the pillars on which we build a truly
great society, without civil rights we become the slave of others. Yes people
have to be strong and stand up for them. JFK & MLK stood for what they
believed, yes they did fall at the end, but their legacy lives on and many
“small” people stand up for their beliefs and can use the power of the internet
to get their message across.
Now governments have started to accept that basic human and
civil rights are important, here in the US we have such things as the DFPS they
protect the weak to the extent as they say “Anyone who thinks a child, or
person 65 years or older, or an adult with disabilities is being abused,
neglected, or exploited must report it to DFPS. A person who reports abuse in
good faith is immune from civil or criminal liability. DFPS keeps the name of
the person making the report confidential. Anyone who does not report suspected
abuse can be held liable for a misdemeanor or felony”.
The EEOC, “Equal Employment Opportunity Commission” is
responsible for enforcing federal laws that make it illegal to discriminate
against a job applicant or an employee because of the person's race, color,
religion, sex (including pregnancy), national origin, age (40 or older),
disability or genetic information. It is also illegal to discriminate against a
person because the person complained about discrimination, filed a charge of
discrimination, or participated in an employment discrimination investigation
or lawsuit.
So yes even governments will help the weak challenge the
strong and as the saying goes “the
bigger they are the harder they fall”.
